3 EVENTS TO CHECK OUT

The Frank Art Gallery in Pembroke Pines opens its new exhibition Friday night. Kaleidoscope: Shifting Perspectives brings together a group of South Florida artists working across different disciplines — painting, installation, conceptual work — with a reception Friday, August 21 from 3–5PM. It runs through November, so this weekend is just the opening, but if you like being there at the start, that's Friday.

Saturday night the gallery goes in a different direction. Primal Ensemble takes over for a live sound performance tied to an immersive installation already on view. Percussion, synthesizers, acoustic instruments — the kind of thing that works better experienced than described. They suggest bringing a yoga mat or blanket.

And Sunday morning, Nike at Pembroke Gardens is running a Wellness Sunday with Zumba at 9:45AM, a 20% store discount, and wellness vendors on site. Registration is $5. If you want to get moving before the open houses, this is the warm-up.
